ADULT Training Program
Want to teach our writing process to your students?
This program is for you.
Broadly speaking, our community is created to serve educators. But more specifically, it is created to connect lay educators, parent educators, and co-op educators. As traditional education often no longer meets the needs of students, and as parents step in to actively and authoritatively bring quality education to their children, we are here to partner with you to bring the best support through rigorous teaching materials, relational instruction, and community connections.
Our writing instruction is the hub around which all other instructional content flows. We begin by teaching our 4-step writing methods, and then we study great literature and practice applying those steps well. Over years of practice, students become excellent, confident writers.

FAQs
Why offer an Adult Training Program?
The ATP equips two important groups of adults:
Parents who desire to become better equipped to teach and support their own children’s instruction
Instructors in co-ops where writing instruction is offered
While we will continue to offer live virtual classes, we understand that in-person instruction is important for students. That is why we support families and co-ops where students come together to learn. Our ATP is designed to equip and empower other adults to teach our tried-and-true writing methods. We want to partner with you and your co-op to bring our great instruction to your students. If you simply provide a willing individual, we will do the training and mentoring.
Who would be a good candidate for participating in the ATP?
A good candidate is someone who is eager to partner with others to learn how to teach our tried and true writing methods to their own children, or students in a local co-op or school. We understand that adults are extremely busy individuals; therefore, this program is designed to be as efficient as possible – for you. While a variety of options are available for you to become a part of our community and learn our writing methods, nothing surpasses relational instruction. This is what you will receive in our ATP Handbook Training Seminar and mentoring program. Our goal is to help you become a confident writing instructor, so we are doing our best to work with your busy, demanding schedule. We simply need a teachable individual, ready to learn how to become an even better writing instructor. This opportunity is available for ALL adults: parents (and grandparents), co-op leaders and instructors, school teachers, etc.
What ATP classes do you offer?
Our Adult Training Program begins with our ATP Handbook Training Seminar, which teaches the concepts found in TWJ Writing Foundations Handbook, Student Lesson Guide, and Literature Guide. After individuals complete the ATP Handbook Training Seminar, they will have the option to participate in a mentoring program, which will include peer support and professional mentoring as they teach TWJ methods and learn to evaluate their students’ written work.
Is homework required in the ATP?
While there will be no time to complete homework when attending the ATP Handbook Training Seminar, it is strongly recommended that individuals practice each of the skills taught in the seminar in order to learn each skill completely. This can be accomplished through the mentoring opportunity that will be offered in conjunction with the seminar, or it can also be accomplished independently or with a group of teachers in a school or other educational community.
